Skin care during summer differs a bit from other seasons. India is a tropical country and exposure to sunlight is unavoidable.
Here are some beauty tips to follow:
- Skin is tenderer during summer due to excessive sun exposure. Avoid direct sun light between 12 noon - 4 pm. Postpone any outdoor activities like shopping after sunset. Use a good sunscreen of SPF 30 or above. Re-apply 3-4 times a day. Always use umbrella, wear sunglasses to protect tender skin around the eyes.
- Drink plenty of water upto 8 to 10 glasses in a day as the skin gets dehydrated due to excessive perspiration.
- Take large glasses of fruit juices, vegetable juices, and coconut water. Fruits containing high water content like citrus fruits, watermelon would be more effective.
- Eat lots of vegetable salads, milk & milk products.
- For quick skin boost in the sun, fill a bottle with a little bit of toner, water and sprits face and body for a quick cool off.
- For sunburn mix a part of milk and a part of cold water with a tray of ice cubes. Soak cotton in the mixture & apply it to face for five minutes.
- Use anti fungal dusting powder in body folds like underarms after bath to avoid odour due to perspiration.

Summer Hair Care:
- Wash hair every alternate day as it tends to be too sticky. Follow it up with a good conditioner.
- If you spend lots of time outdoors combine a little lemon juice through your hair. The sun will lighten those strands faster than your locks sans lemon, giving you an attractive sun-streaked look.
- Be sure to deep condition your hair atleast once a week, especially if you swim a lot. Hair tends to become dry, dull and brittle if it is soaked and dried too often.
